How it all began…
Kelly and Drew each spent nearly 4 years at the University of Georgia on their own paths before meeting, They passed on campus weekly, attended the same Greek life events, and even had classes together with no interaction. They sat next to each other in a Business Management course in the last semester of their senior year. It wasn’t until a few weeks before graduation that their professor said “now work with the person next to you for this exercise,” something she’d never instructed before. They spoke for the first time all semester, and completed the assignment together being the star students they are. Yet, within the work, they found themselves laughing and discovered an inexplicable comfort in each other. Drew soon followed Kelly on Instagram and LinkedIn, but the real catalyst was when Kelly LinkedIn messaged Drew - “Hope you’re ready for some rowdy LinkedIn posts!” After a few messages, she sent him her number.
Quickly, they both developed a crush and in their final few weeks of college, wanted to be together as often as possible. They’d “run into each other” in downtown Athens, Drew drove Kelly to a few of her final exams, they went on their first date, and even sat with each other at the Terry College of Business graduation. They were thrilled to discover that they’d both accepted jobs in the Atlanta area. This meant a summer of seeing each other multiple times per week, and soon becoming boyfriend and girlfriend one summer night at Roswell’s ‘Alive After 5.”
The next 6 years brought them through moves, job changes, promotions, wins and losses, good days and bad. They came to love and be loved by one another’s families, enjoying countless visits to each of their favorite lakes, family dinners, vacations, and quickly starting to join holiday celebrations. Drew and Kelly built a love of travel together, staying busy by exploring new places multiple times per year. Trips ranged from Savannah, Georgia to Kelly’s hometown of New Albany, Ohio; the Pacific Coast Highway to Dubrovnik, Croatia, and many more. Of course, they attended many Georgia sporting events - Braves, Falcons, and even watching the Dawgs secure their 2021 national title in Indianapolis!
In February 2024, while Kelly was at the beach with friends, Drew asked Kelly’s parents if he could take them to lunch. He asked for their blessing, and after some tears, Kelly’s dad offered that he propose at Lake Toxaway on his 60th birthday - the perfect disguise! So, in May 2024, Kelly and Drew headed up to Lake Toxaway to celebrate her dad’s big birthday. The whole family was in town, and Kelly and Drew went to grab a cocktail with the siblings at the clubhouse before dinner. Drew asked Kelly if she wanted to get a picture in front of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and before they could get in position, Drew got down one one knee and asked Kelly to marry him! A surprise celebration with Kelly’s best friends from around the country was prepared back at the house, along with continued celebrations with friends and family back home in Atlanta.
We have had so much fun planning our forever, and we cannot wait to celebrate with all of you!
